About the Author
Ned Kock (Nereu Florencio Kock Jr.) is Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of MIS and Decision Science at Texas A&M International University. He holds degrees in electronics engineering (B.E.E.), computer science (M.Sc.), and management information systems (Ph.D.). Ned has authored several books, and published in a number of journals including Communications of the ACM; Decision Support Systems; IEEE Transactions on: Education, Engineering Management, and Professional Communication; Information & Management; Information Systems Journal, Information Technology & People; Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce; Journal of Systems and Information Technology; MIS Quarterly; and Organization Science. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of e-Collaboration, Associate Editor of the Journal of Systems and Information Technology, and Associate Editor for Information Systems of the journal IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication. His research interests include action research, ethical and legal issues in technology research and management, e-collaboration, and business process improvement.

An Innovative and Practical Approach to Business Process Redesign

This book covers a full spectrum of Systems Analysis and Design topics. From emerging trends to design basics as well as the evolution of design methods. Case studies are presented to help the reader put these design concepts and methods in a real world perspective. Object-Oriented database design is discussed and it's ability to encapsulate information. The systems concepts discussed in this book are even applied with real world technology like ASP, Frontpage, Microsoft Access and Internet Information Services. The book is very well organized and the accompanying cd materials present the book through powerpoint presentations, video files of the author discussing the concepts presented in each chapter as well as a complete set of documentation that could answer many of the reader's questions about the book. This book with it's materials almost seems like a class in and of itself.

The book is an ideal book for those who want to do business process redesign. The CD that comes with this book is an excellent resource to learn and prepare professional documentation step by step.The system analysis and design concepts explained in this book is not only helpful in learning the system analysis and design but also in developing the real world scenarios that needs to be followed to implement business process redesign effectively.

Lots of Fluff

This book is wordy, wordy, wordy. I'm halfway through and can't really say that I've learned much. Admittedly, many of the sentences are redundant and/or painfully obvious.
