First few chapters fantastic.
By Amazon Customer
The first few chapters of this book are fantastic. Covering Burke and Marxist perspectives applied to pop culture allows the student to make relevant connections between rhetoric and the media. It gets old though. The book consistently looks at television shows and even takes on a tone that could easily be considered offensive to the reader towards the last two - lacking - chapters. I felt the author was communicating the idea of today's students not having anything in their lives than television programs and low quality advertisements and the attention span of a goldfish. I would love to see the next edition drop that tonality and continue the awesome work the first three chapters of the book did. Would have been 5 starts without the insulting last two chapters and more content.
